Silent Night – Great Big Silent Auction

Burra Regional Art Gallery, together with Burra SES and CFS, is holding a community event in aid of the Ambulance and Burra Hospital. The 10-day silent auction “Silent Night” (24 November to 3 December) will culminate on 3 December with fun, supper provided and drinks for sale.

With over 100 genuine art bargains from many mid north artists of diverse disciplines. Artists have generously selected a low reserve price for their works. Potential buyers can place a bid by registering with the gallery attendant during the 10 days to 9pm December 3, after which successful bidders can take home their new acquisition.

Spread the word, support a good cause and join us in our end of year celebrations.

Burra Regional Art Gallery’s end of year bonanza for art lovers is over and done for 2011. A healthy sum was raised for Burra Hospital and Ambulance. Thanks to Leon Cutting of the Regional Ambulance Service for opening the exhibition and the volunteers for attending. Many viewers could not resist buying (the fun of it all!) and left late in the evening with their chosen works.

Thanks to our talented and generous artists for your efforts, donations to the cause and enthusiastic support of the gallery. We agree, Burra Gallery is a wonderful venue to show work, with clean creamy white walls, fall of light from the windowed archways with no direct sunlight in the afternoons when the gallery is open, and the flexibility of the gallery spaces. Something to be proud of!

The exhibition has been revamped with new work, including a magnificently filled table of Jill Foster ceramics and small sketches of Burra cottages.

“Silent Night” closes 10 January 2012 and to take its place Country Arts Touring Exhibition “Desert to Dunes” along with regional artists Ken Pickard ink drawings and Val de Vries technical design on porcelain, opening 2pm Sunday 15 January 2012.

All works have low starting bids for the Silent Auction, unsold works will revert to normal prices on December 4 2011 for the remainder of the exhibition concluding January 11 2012.
